Young IAS Officer Who Secured All India Rank 8 in UPSC Entrusted with Key Responsibility

Ishita Rathi, IAS, who was serving as the Sub-Collector (Revenue) and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of North Puducherry, has been appointed as the District Collector of Karaikal, according to official administrative orders issued by the government.

Ishita Rathi, who was selected in the IAS 2022 batch, secured an impressive All India Rank 8 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021, thereby entering the Indian Administrative Service. She belongs to the AGMUT cadre, which comprises Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories.
Educational Qualifications
Ishita Rathi completed her schooling at DAV Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. She later pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University. She went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Economics from the Madras School of Economics, Chennai.

UPSC Examination Journey
Without enrolling in any formal coaching institutions, Ishita Rathi cleared the Civil Services Examination through self-study, successfully passing the exam in her second attempt. She chose Economics as her optional subject.
Administrative Experience
Prior to her appointment as Karaikal District Collector, she handled several key administrative responsibilities in North Puducherry, including revenue administration, maintenance of law and order, implementation of government welfare schemes, and public grievance redressal mechanisms.

Family Background
Although she hails from Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh, her family is currently residing in Delhi. It is noteworthy that both her parents are serving personnel of the Delhi Police, reflecting a strong public service background.
With Ishita Rathi assuming charge as the Karaikal District Collector, there is growing public expectation that district administration will be further strengthened through efficient governance and responsive public service delivery.
